Biopower

From Metapedia

Is a term Michel Foucault used to describe the function of Power that is internalized and reproduced in the human body. Biopower is exemplified in race, gender, sexuality, ect. Antonio Negri and Michael Hardt use this concept of Biopower in their book Empire to articulate the current international environment of global power and control. They argue that in our society, "mechanisms of command become ever more 'democratic,' ever more immanent to the social field, distributed through out the brains and bodies of the citizens." (Hardt and Negri, 2000)
