Hegemony
From Metapedia
Traditionally, a term used in political philosophy meaning dominant, hegemony was given new meaning by Antonio Gramsci during the fascist era in Italy. Gramsci used the term to explain how the dominant class maintains its control over the other classes without force or coercion because of the willing consent of those who "buy into" the dominant class program and ideology, whatever that may mean in specific historical and political times and places.
